“Love” is the theme for this sterling silver coin. The French words “l’amour toujours” translates to “love always” in English. The use of 3D-hologram technology allows a golden heart symbol to be imposed between the two swans, highlighting the heart shape created by their curved necks as they come together.
Swans mate for life and are used here as a powerful symbol of love, loyalty and fidelity. They are also associated with purity due to their white plumage.
The significance of these gentle birds is also seen in mythology and fairy tales. In Roman mythology, the swan was sacred to Venus, the goddess of love, while in Greek mythology, it was sacred to Apollo, the god of music. This coin can also remind us that we can transform from an “ugly duckling” to a beautiful swan, gliding through the water with grace and elegance.
The coin weighs about three quarters of an ounce of sterling silver, and has a diameter of 38.61 mm. It is dated 2011 and has a legal tender value of 1000 Francs in Cameroon. Mintage is limited to just 2,500 coins.
