This stunning coin is the first in a wonderful new series from the Royal Canadian Mint, which celebrates the Canadian coinage effigies of HRM Queen Elizabeth II throughout the years! This coin combines the iconic Canadian maple leaf with our Sovereign to create a tribute to what have been symbols of our great country for more than sixty years. This four-coin series will go on to display the four effigies that have appeared on Canadian circulation coins since 1953. This first coin boasts an obverse image of an elegant profile portrait of HRM Queen Elizabeth II, created in 1952, by British sculptor Mary Gillick, while a simple but powerful depiction of sugar maple leaves grace the reverse. This coin is struck in a quarter-ounce of 99.99% pure gold, with a mintage of 1,500; it is a perfect way to commemorate the Queen's lengthy reign, and a distinguished addition to any collection of gold coinage.
