This extraordinary sculpted maple leaf coin shines with pride for the 30th anniversary of the Mint’s
Platinum Maple Leaf. What better shape than a maple leaf to celebrate the hallmark brand that
has reigned as the international standard for purity and integrity since this iconic maple leaf first
took the bullion world by storm, and then rose to unparalleled success with the PML in 1988. Its
iconic logo is the centrepiece of this design, and it’s selectively plated with platinum to deliver a
spectacular two-tone effect to this leaf extravaganza showcasing Canada’s most recognized
emblem that will fill any collection with pride!
Canadian artist Joel Kimmel has created a visually striking design incorporating the Platinum
Maple Leaf’s (PML) iconic logo, and the Queen’s effigy that was in circulation when the PML was
introduced in 1988. Selectively plated in platinum, they deliver an eye-catching contrast to the
gold maple leaf-shaped coin. The $200 face value, double date (1988-2018) and 30 YEARS/ANS
appear on reverse with a background pattern of subtle maple leaves that shimmer in the light,
while The Queen’s 1988 effigy appears on the obverse against finely engraved details that bring
added dimension and texture to the sculpted, three-dimensional leaf.
Only 450 coins available worldwide—a collecting opportunity
not to be missed! THE MARK OF FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP: The
maple leaf’s serrated edges and distinctive veining are recreated
thanks to meticulous engraving, which remains
faithful to the SML’s design but also adds a touch of natural
beauty to all three sizes of leaves—including the coin itself.
