Description Technical Specs Extended Information

There are few animals with more symbolic associations than the snake. Chinese mythology holds that a half-human snake was the father of the Chinese emperors. They are associated with beauty and wisdom, esoteric knowledge and spiritual discovery. The person born in the year of snake is the wisest and most enigmatic of all.

The Snake is one of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac and related to the Chinese calendar. The Chinese calendar is a lunisolar calendar, incorporating elements of a lunar calendar with those of a solar calendar. It is not exclusive to China, but followed by many other Asian cultures as well. The 12 animals are linked to traditional Chinese agricultural calendar, which runs alongside the better known lunar calendar. This $250 silver coin is 99.99% fine silver with a weight of 1000 grams and a diameter of 102.1 millimetres. Very limited mintage of 888.
