2020 $1 Peace Dollar - Pure Silver Coin 2020 $1 Peace Dollar - Pure Silver Coin

***Order now for delivery beginning of October 2019***

Canada has long been associated with the search for a stable and secure international order. This connection began in 1957 when Lester B. Pearson won the Nobel Peace Prize. Then Canadian Secretary of state for External Affairs, Pearson helped diffuse the Suez Crisis by creating the world’s first, large-scale United Nations peacekeeping force. Over the next 40 years, Canada's contribution in UN peacekeeping becomes an intrinsic part of the country's international role. In 1988, the UN received the Nobel Peace Prize for decades of peacekeeping activities. By then, Canada had contributed roughly 80,000 peacekeepers. The Peace dollar celebrates Canada's dedication to making the world a more peaceful place.

The reverse design features the profile of Lady Peace, crowned with maple leaves. Her visage is accompanied by “PAX 2020” and the Canadian national motto: “A MARI USQUE AD MARE” - From Sea to Sea. The coin also bears edge lettering with the Latin word ‘PAX’ which means peace. The obverse design features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

2020 $10 Pulsating Maple Leaf - Pure Silver Coin 2020 $10 Pulsating Maple Leaf - Pure Silver Coin

This large format two ounce fine silver maple leaf coin features a new technology that creates an optical illusion of a pulsating maple leaf. The coin not only has a cool effect, but it also has a low mintage of just 3,000 pieces, adding scarcity to the innovation and fine silver value.

The technology works by creating sub-millimeter-scale mirrors on the coins. These mirrors are engineered to exact dimensions and orientations, then engraved on the coining dies used to strike the mirror array into the pure silver blanks. The result: the Silver Maple Leaf on the coin’s reverse appears to expand and contract when you tilt the coin, giving the impression that the maple leaf is pulsating.

To create this unique take on the classic Silver Maple Leaf design, the Royal Canadian Mint Research and Development Team collaborated with the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Research in Photonics. Together, these innovators created a new technology that generates dynamic optical effects on coins. Brand new technology and a classic design—all in one beautiful coin. Mintage of this coin is limited to only 3,000. GST/HST exempt.

The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Now for 2020, Canada’s iconic coins become even more interesting and elusive as they take shape around their central designs in this ultra low mintage six coin Real Shapes subscription series. Each large format coin has a $50 denomination and is struck in 100 grams (over three ounces) of pure silver with a selective overlay of fine gold. Mintage is limited to just 1,200 of each coin, and a quick sell out is expected. The Common Loon coin will be shipped with your order, with an additional coin sent every second month as they are released by the Royal Canadian Mint.
