Produced under the Province of Canada, many varieties of the 1859 one cent coin were dated with a narrow 9 punch by numerous dies with various instances of re-punching. This mint state example represents the Double Punched Narrow 9 T1 variety. Dark chestnut toning blankets the surface of this coin, with a small area of gun-metal toning found on the face of Queen Victoria's portrait. Strong details can be found throughout this circulation strike, with sharp features still remaining in the monarch's laurel crown and the reverse maple leaves. A wonderful coin with great appeal.
